Dear Gardner:

	Here are some ideas about a lot
more detail for Klivington, but the main points
were rather well covered in your letter.
Taking into account the possibility that he is stalling,
I suppose it is important to get something together promptly.

1. Biographical and laudatory material on the participants.

2. Plan for a conference in connection with the meeting.  We think
that a few day conference with many more people some time during
the meeting will be helpful.  I can imagine about 20 people who
could make a contribution.  Some help with travel would be good,
although I suppose some people could make it on their own.  Even
if the conference has to include mainly local people because of
a lack of travel money, it looks like a good idea.  Bob Moore has
agreed to organize it.
Potential invitees could be listed.

3. The proposal could be fattened by including the cited papers of
mine and Dennett's and (say) one each paper from other participants.
The AI people alone could supply enough reprints to choke a goat,
and philosophers are at least as long winded.

4. Citations in support of the importance of the interaction of
philosophy and AI.  Perhaps I can find something in Chomsky's
recent writings (Chomsky is considered the opposite side of
most issues from AI) that will support the importance of the
issues addressed.

5. Something about what each participant proposes to do.  My thought
is to do part of it myself and get Bob Moore to do part of it.

	I have been quite pressed by administrative and other
proposal writing responsibilities and am really not in a position
to do the things I suggest above.

	However, if something brief will do, I have added a bit to your
letter in the enclosed draft.  Maybe it responds to his concerns.
